nothing like love to make things seem better. it's one of those things that can have you on the highest high one day and your lowest low the next. TOP of my list for things to do this week is to finally see my woman after what seems to be an eternity apart and also get back to becoming a good CAT once more. hopefully, the love of my life will put up with me for the time it takes for things to become simplified.

hopefully this post isn't too vomit inducing. if it is then i don't really give a sh!t. i've managed to find someone special after months if not years of being unlucky and just plain stupid in love and i want to broadcast that (even if i'm not really meant to).

well, its December the 8th. Widely broadcast to be doomsday for the clan formerly known as UsR. I am happy to announce that, while the sky is somewhat grey with snow, the outlook is bright and sunny.

Reports have been coming into the GBH newsdesk all morning regarding the apparent lack of activity on the frontlines. General Jason, who sadly was K.I.A just 24 hours ago, left a legacy of fight and spirit amongst the troops which remains steadfast despite the threat of onslaught by mighty beast that is Such Retarded To$$er .

well... for the observant amongst you... you may have noticed three little letters at the start of my gamertag have changed. Have no fear... the level of stick i've been getting online from GBH and everyone else has been very impressive. Basically over the last few weeks i've been playing more and more PGR4, progessing further and further up the leaderboards. This has re-ignited my passion for racing and has triggered the desire for competition as well as fun. With the permission of Iceman and Viper i will continue this blog (the GBH blog is even famous now... we're featured on a certain clan website lol).
Three letters may have changed on my gamertag but the gamer behind the name is still the same - afterall, UsR has always been the clan we get on with!!!

Joystiq got their greasy manhooks on some interesting market data from NPD. Savvy Xbox 360 fans know that the Xbox 360 sells quite a few games, but according to this data, the Xbox 360 sells nearly twice as many games per console as the PS3 and Wii. On average, there are nearly seven games sold per Xbox 360, compared to between three and four sold for every PS3 or Wii. Take a look at this delicious data.

Xbox 360: hardware to software ratio: 6.59 (hardware total sold = 6.8 million; software total sold = 44.8 million)
PlayStation 3: hardware to software ratio: 3.58 (hardware total sold = 1.9 million; software total sold = 6.8 million)
Wii: hardware to software ratio: 3.44 (hardware total sold = 4.5 million; software total sold = 15.5 million)

Those numbers are bound to make current publishers happy, and serve as an attractive incentive to prospective publishers. It makes sense to publish your game for an audience that's more likely to buy it, you see. With the Wii finally getting Mario Galaxy (arguably its next killer app) and the PS3 finally approaching a market-friendly price this holiday, we're eager to see where the 360 sits at the end of the year.

GBH... a frame of mind rather than a clan

The object of GBH? To try and have a laugh and inject a little bit of fun back into the seemingly sterile and hostile world PGR has become!
As the title says... GBH is more "frame of mind" than out and out clan. If you are GBH then you would rather have a laugh than be in the top10 on leaderboards. You would rather be able to sit back and watch in amazement at the inter-clan battles and back-stabbing that emerges on a daily basis between 'proper' clans. But essentially... you would rather be able to play with like minded mates who are good at the game but have stronger ability and talent in the noble art of P!ssTake and Fun.
GBH are more the 'fun-uncle' of PGR... the 'clan' other clans invite knowing they aren't going to have massive arguments about routers etc but rather good competitive racing with guys who have a laugh!

PS. this little paragraph thingy may seem out of character... blame alcohol... get more gobby when had a few... also forgive spelling errors lol

yup... its the RuF Supercar Concept. Yes this car is good at blocking and yes it is good at spinning other cars, but when you consider that in the game this car actually weighs at least twice as much as any other car and is also stickier than the Loctite factory, you have to ask yourself the question... "If the cat truely has any talent, then why do they need to use a tool which gives them such a large advantage over everyone else?". Today i actually banned RuFs from my lobby and the resulting cat and mouse game was open, good spirited, CLOSE, and really good fun. Come you PGR Cat and Mouse fans... if you have any talent BAN THE RUF!!!!!

Just Think... next time you accelerate you could be actually be remotely driving one of these...

His explanation can be found in the responses to the recent interview with Microsoft's Todd Holmdahl.
"... the problem isn’t just with launch units. Of the 8 I’ve had so far, only 2 were manufactured in the first three months of launch. The last one I had red-ring on me was manufactured in November of ‘06 - a full year after launch.
The problem is that the cooling design of the 360 doesn’t hold up. The cooling of the CPU was well done, with a heat pipe to draw the heat away from the chip (and accordingly, away from the mainboard). The problem is that the GPU and its low-profile heatsink sit under the DVD drive, and are given a very narrow channel for air to be pulled acrosss the heatsink by the fans. When the GPU heats up enough, not only does it reflow the solder in the ball grid array slightly, it can cause the entire mainboard to flex - a phenomenon largely caused by the X-shaped brackets that hold the heatsinks on under the mainboard. They hold the heatsinks down to the chips with a tension fit that presses up directly underneath those chips.
So when the system gets too hot, the combination of loosened solder with a mainboard that flexes from heat causes the GPU or CPU to actually break its connection from the board - resulting in the 3 red lights and secondary error code 0102 (the “unknown hardware error” code).
This is true of ALL systems manufactured thus far, not just the launch systems. Hopefully, Microsoft’s new measure of adding a heatpipe to the GPU heatsink will reduce the heat on the mainboard itself enough to keep this from happening. We shall see."

My 360 suffered the fatal red ring of death a few weeks back. Timeline of events:

5th: 360 knacks up

6th: walk into Currys and try and claim on my "WhateverHappens" policy thing - great result... NOTHING.

7th: send 360 back to microsoft

14th: ring microsoft wanting my 360 back - they say they will email me when it is ready

19th: UPS guy knocks on door... package from microsoft... UPS guy states that he is sick of delivering these cos that's all he ever seems to do. inside package is brand new 360 - thankyou microsoft

23rd: still no email from microsoft saying they are going to send 360 back (huh?!). mice communication from microsoft customer services lol.

although give them credit, they did send me a new 360 in 12 days (far short of the 25 days they originally quoted).

Welcome to the GBH blog. Based in Project Gotham Racing 3 on xbox360 we are a non-clan clan who basically have a laugh and mess around (while still managing to beat everyone haha).
